Summer of George...Goals

Many years ago, our sister-in-law, Roxie, made the comment, "This is the Summer of Mark." This was a reference to a Seinfeld eposide, "The Summer of George." Bascically, Roxie was teasing Mark's climbing agenda as he was getting close to finishing the 13ers. When Terry retired in June of 2024, Mark donned it The Summer of Terry. She chose what she wanted to do. Of course it involved trail runs, peak bagging, and visiting wild places. Our friend, Darren Cook, liked this idea and came up with the label The Winter of Darren as he joined us on a dozen Arizona peaks in December.

The point of this story...we are both big goal setters. Typically we do not share our goals with many folks; it always starts with sharing them with each other. Some goals are short term; complete graduate school. Some are long term; complete the 13ers---30 years. Anyhow, at this point in our lives, our goals have evolved. We want to stay involved building and maintainings schools in Africa with Starfish, promote public education in Grand Junction in many ways (look for Terry and Miranda's podcasts), and explore as many wild places as we can. With both of us retired by 2025, our next moniker??? Peak Bagging Extravaganza... Ha! We had to follow Roxie's lead with a catchy title. If our bodies hold up, our goal is to set personal goals in number of peaks climbed in 2026. Of course these will be much easier peaks than what were doing 20 years ago. If you care to join us, we would love to have company.
