Journal Entry July 3, 1994: This was our first big mountain glacier experience. We spent the previous day in our tent waiting out a blizzard at 10,000 feet that dumped a foot of snow and blanketed the mountain. I departed at 2:00 AM with Dennis O'Dwyer and Penny Martens. We crossed our first of many crevasses on a clear day. The sulfur smell from the volcano was strong. Rain clouds were well below us. It rained all day in Seattle. After the sunrise, my psyche felt much better. The midnight clouds cleared and the we un-roped on the rim before walking over to the true summit. Simply spectacular vista!

July 20, 2106: It has been amazing to revisit peaks climbed 20 years prior. It seems I have been doing quite a bit of this. Anyhow, this trip was with Craig Patterson and Roger Linfield. We did that same route as years before, the Emmons Glacier. (Update: Roger passed in 2020. I look back fondly of this trip and many, many others. Roger was a prolific technical climber and mountaineer, but this was his first peak with glaciers. He loved it!)
