Mark completed the Colorado 13ers in 2011 taking 31 years of peak-bagging. The list of 637 peaks includes 583 13ers and 54 14ers. Terry completed all the 14ers and 2/3 of the 13ers.

Journal Entry September 2, 2011: Tomorrow, I hope to complete the 13er list with a climb of Kendall Mountain. I have invited family and climbing mates. Since climbing the last few 13ers one week ago, I have had a chance to reflect on the accomplishment. People have asked if I feel relieved, joyful, etc. Yes, elation and relief are part of my feelings. For years my daydreams have been about plans to climb "that" peak or how I'll approach "this" peak. Well, this week those dreams did not happen, so there is also a tad of bittersweetness. I do not plan on any other major list, so my dreams will change.

Letter to Mark from Mom, September, 2011: "You were just a youngster going with Dad on the mail route. He pointed out a peak in the distance. I think it was Golden Horn. You made up your mind to climb it. Was that one of your earliest memories of becoming a climber? Was Sneffels your first 14er? I hope to read your answers in that book I expect you to write. Now you have fulfilled a DREAM!"

Mark: I did not get around to writing that book, Mom. I promised I would write, but this website is the closest thing I have to a book. I wish you were here to read it.
